Informed Parents
IP-CA was formed by concerned parents, grandparents, community, and
church leaders to stand for the rights of parents, parents control over the
educational experience of their children, transparency between the school and
the parent, and raising STEM test scores.
IP-CA knows that 'people is policy'; therefore, we work to remove from
office school board members that do not share the belief that parents have the
right, duty, and responsibility for the education of their children.
Informed Parents has three signature activities:
OPT OUT Notice Delivery: Informed Parents has an extensive Schools section on our website, www.ip-ca.org. In less than two minutes, any parent of a public school child may go to our website, enter their contact information and the particulars on their student’s school, DocuSign the form at the bottom of their screen, click submit and a fully completed, LEGALLY BINDING, OPT OUT Notice prepared by Pacific Justice Institute is sent by email to the student’s principal and superintendent of the school district.

CommonSense Voter Guide: Informed Parents publishes a non-partisan CommonSense Voter Guide before each election and distributes the Voter Guide via email. Additionally, it is posted on the IPSV website and distributed in hardcopy to churches and community organizations. Campaigns are encouraged to distribute the voter guide through their channels. IP-CA sends a questionnaire by email to each person on the ballot asking them to fill out a series of questions and return their completed questionnaire to IP-CA. If a candidate or incumbent does not return the questionnaire, their failure to return the questionnaire is noted in the guide.

Parents Organizations: Informed Parents believes that organizing parents is a key to parents exercising their rights and responsibilities and knowing what is occurring in their child’s district. PTA’s and “Home and School Clubs” have generally been turned into an arm of the district. For that reason, Informed Parents works with interested parents to form parents’ organizations in the various school districts to act as the eyes and ears of
parents. Through newsletters and other means, parents are kept abreast of actions and activities occurring at the School Board level and are able to create a counter to the teachers unions. Additionally, Informed Parents is committed to providing knowledge and information to candidates and office holders. Informed Parents was founded by Larry Pegram, a former elected official and longtime political figure Silicon Valley.
